The Supreme Court found Abdul Quader Molla guilty of the murder of around 350 civilians and other counts of war crimes of 1971 and revised his previous life sentence with the maximum penalty- the death sentence.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla, condemned to death by the Supreme Court, can only seek presidential clemency, with no other legal scope of appeal against this final verdict.

Activists of the Jamaat-e-Islami started violent protests in Chittagong after the sentencing by torching police cars.
