Gunfight in Chittagong Juba League leader Babar on 4-day remand

CHITTAGONG : A court in Chittagong on Thursday placed Juba League central committee member Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar on a 4-day remand in connection with the gunfight between BCL and Juba League men over dropping tender that left two people dead on Monday, reports UNB.
The court also placed four others-Jubo League leader Khokon Chandra Tanti, Ritu Dash alias Bablu, Premasis Mutsaddi alias Choton Barua and Babar’s body guard Shah Alam on a 3-day remand. Metropolitan judge Hakim Nur-e Alam Bhuiyan passed the order when police produced them before the court seeking a 7-day remand for each.
A gunfight between some activists of Jubo League led by Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar and Chhatra League led by its central committee assistant secretary Saiful Alam Limon over dropping tender for three works of Railway east zone at CRB area left two people including a minor boy dead on Monday. Mahibur Rahman, sub-inspector (SI) of Kotwali Police Station, filed a case against 87 named and 40 unnamed activists of both parties on Monday night.
Police arrested 52 people from the port city on Monday. Six other people including Babar were arrested from Gulshan area in the capital on Tuesday night.
